Christian symbol- Dolphin

Making our Mosaic's in Humanities class took time and effort, some of us didn't even get a chance to finish. I tried to take a symbol which I liked and that wasn't only a line like the fish symbol. I piked this symbol because I like animals and it seemed interesting. The dolphin symbolizes redemption. Ancient legends tell of the dolphin ferrying souls into afterlife. Dolphins in this capacity are pictures with the dead riding on their backs into the afterlife. If we where to make a mosaic for a church I would probably die. I really think they took allot of time in making their designs.

Caesar vs Augustus

Who do you think was a more important leader, Caesar or Augustus? Explain your answer using details and relevant facts to support your opinion.

I think that Caesar was a more important leader because he was a military leader and helped his men for a place to life, he gave them shelter, food and land for plating crops. Even if he killed a bunch of people for not obeying him he still did a bunch of things for Rome. Augustus later on just became the leader and helped out with a few problems but still worshiped his father Caesar and build a temple for him. Caesar did do bad things but was know to be a great leader for the ones who supported him, on the other hand the others hated him and wanted him gone from Rome and never to come back or kill him and never hear his name again.

Imagine you are a Roman citizen, would you be for or against Caesar's rise to power and his reforms? Why/why not?

I would never be for Caesar. He became an enemy and stated a civil war. He treated everyone with cruelty and punished those who wanted to uphold the traditions and laws if the republic. He also made jobs or the poor to get money. He  killed people for not obeying him, People though he was trying to take advantage of the people. I'm just saying i don't like him. He was very mean and bossy in my opinion and i would never want to be one of his people.....

Explain in detail how the geography and climate of the Italian peninsula affected the development of ancient Rome

The geography of ancient Rome was normally by relatively steep hills on the left bank of the river Tiber. Some historians say that that the rivers made culture harder for the development in Ancient Rome. The rivers split cultures and Rome into different places. Hills where also said to have done this. The climate made it even worse. Rivers of course got higher with the rain and sometimes overflowed into the villages. When there was no rain the crops wouldn't be able to grow and animals would dye because they would have no water. These things really affected Rome in some ways, but also helped in other ways.

Describe the two legends of the founding of Rome

One of the legends of when the founding of Rome began was a traditional story of 2 twin brothers who where abandoned as babies near the Tiber River. The where rescued by a wolf and and raised by a shepherd. However some historians believe that Latins lived in the area of Rome so they could have been the ones who founded Rome. Archaeologists have found evidence of villages on the Platine Hill. The most believed legend is the on of the twin brothers. It was said that one of them killed their brother and named the city after them self.

Biography on Alexander the Great

Alexander the great was the king of  Macedonia. By the age of 30 he had created one of the largest empires in ancient history. He was undefeated in battles and is considered one of the most successful commanders of all time. Alexander the great was born in Pella. I think that he does deserve the name the Great, because he did lots of great things as he ruled over his country.

A day in the life of......

Theseus, was a brave 16 year old teenager. He told stories to his friends of how he had killed a monster called the Minotaur. Every one loved his stories but no one believed it. He tried, and tried over and over again to get them to believe him, but it didn't work, till one day he said he was going to come face to face with another evil monster and kill it and bring it back home. Before he left he was very nervous for this day, he was scared he was going to die and no one would remember him, so he asked 3 of his friends to go with him on this unforgettable adventure. Hercules, Jason and Argonauts had said yes.

The day finally came. They where in the kingdom waiting for the right time, till the people got bored and just kicked them out, since they couldn't wait any longer. The journey began. As the walked through the forests and mountains and along the rivers and lakes, the came upon things they would have never thought to find on there way. They killed and captured these things and almost died facing these things. They found a place to build a hut, make their food and so on. They went hunting for food to cook and eat, and tried finding big shells where they could carry water and drink out of. They continued like this for about 5 years.

The night had finally come where Theseus felt the earth moving, he heard foot steps, not normal but huge. He said to be quiet and walked out of the hut. Him and his friends had found foot steps, not normal but huge, and followed them. They played quietly for this to be the night where they would actually find this monster every one feared. No one even dared to say its name. The Poloplanymos actually existed. As their eyes opened wide to see the monster, Theseus was blinded because he had looked straight into the eye of the monster. His 3 friend where fighting the monster trying to kill it, but it was hopeless. Theseus stood up and said, don't bother he said, i will kill it. He stood up grabbing something from the ground and through it at the monster. The monster cried in pain, and fell down to the floor dead. It was a stick, a stick that killed that thing hos friends say. You are a true hero they said in delight, a true hero and everyone well remember you.

When they got back home after 5 years, everyone said to Theseus, you almost died to show us you where not lying, that is what a great hero does. They celebrated that day even though Theseus couldn't see. After a few years he was healed, and was happy to be a hero who everyone loved.
